Baggage Policy – Know the Allowance, Restrictions & More on Delta Air Lines

The passengers of Delta Airlines can carry one checked baggage and one carry-on baggage along with one personal item when boarding their flights.  

Carry-on Bags

Each passenger is allowed to bring one personal item and carry-on luggage. For flights, carry-on baggage must have total dimensions more significant than 45 linear inches (115cm). On most routes, carry-on luggage is allowed to weigh as much as it wants, except for Singapore (7kg/15lbs), Beijing (10kg/22lbs), and Shanghai (10kg/22lbs). 

Checked Baggage

The amount of checked luggage allowed will vary according to the ticket purchased, but the maximum size for all passengers is 157 cm/62 in. However, for travelers traveling in Basic Economy, Main Cabin, and Delta Comfort, the checked baggage cannot weigh more than 23kg/51lbs. Checked baggage for First Class, Delta Premium Select, and Delta One passengers cannot exceed 32kg/70lbs. 

Put a Hold On Your Plans Easily – Cancellation Policy

  • Passengers are not eligible to cancel their tickets after 24 hours of booking. 
  • You will not get any refund if you cancel a non-refundable ticket per the Delta Airlines cancellation policy. However, you may get the travel e-credit for future travel. 
  • Passengers can easily cancel their refundable tickets without any restrictions or costs. They will also get a full refund for their ticket value. 
  • You can also cancel your tickets booked with miles, but airlines will deduct the cancellation from your miles.   
  • If the airline cancel or delays for 30 minutes and more, you can easily rebook your flight. 
  • The airline will first try to rebook the passenger on the next available flight. 

Confirm Your Travel Plans However You Want – Check-in Policy 

Online check-in: You can check in online by going to the Delta online check-in page, providing the departing airport and booking reference. Online check-in begins 24 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure time. 

Airport Check-In 

Additionally, travelers can check in at an airline check-in desk at the airport. Check-in usually closes about 30 minutes before departure, though deadlines vary significantly depending on the airport the flight is leaving from. However, it is advised that travelers show up well before this time, notably if they are dropping off luggage. 

Travel Some Other Time – Delta Flight Change Policy 

  • Basic tickets are non-changeable and non-refundable, so passengers can make any changes to these tickets. 
  • Passengers can sometimes make same-day changes to their flight within 24 hours of the ticket purchase.  
  • When changing the non-refundable ticket, you may need to pay the  
  • change from $0-$500, depending on the route flown. However, you must pay the fare difference if applicable.  
  • Passengers can change their refundable tickets without paying any change cost if adhering to all the rules. However, you might need to pay the fare difference if there is any.  
  • You can also make changes to your award tickets without paying any cost for both domestic flights and international flights. 

Make Corrections in Your Ticket – Name Change 

  • Passengers can easily make minor changes to their tickets’ names without paying fees if changes are done within 24 hours of booking.  
  • Beyond 24 hours, you might need to pay the name change fees per the Delta Airlines name change policy. 
  • The name change will cost you from $75 to $500, depending on the routes flown and classes you booked.
